Tips to Maintain Intimate Hygiene in 2022

We all know-how keeping our bodies clean is very important. Intimate hygiene is all about keeping your privates clean and away from germs and bacteria. Personal hygiene is all about the practices of keeping a distance from germs and infections by keeping an intimate hygiene routine. Many of us are not even aware of the difference between intimate hygiene and

regular hygiene and we often fail to follow a basic routine to keep our privates clean. As our anatomies are different, the need for a different intimate care routine for a man and a woman is also important.

In terms of pH balance, your intimates are much more acidic than the rest of your body. The acidic pH level will help maintain the good bacteria which helps in preventing infections and diseases. To maintain the balance, a good intimate hygiene routine should also be followed.

To maintain healthy intimates, here are some tips.

Clothes Matter:

Clean clothes are always the saving grace. It is common sense to change out of your dirty underwear every day (yes, every day), no matter what you think, your underwear gets dirty every day. For my people who prefer going commando at night, make sure you don’t repeat

your PJs. As we go about our day and night, our body constantly produces discharge which is a way for our intimates to clean themselves. Even if you are planning on spending your entire life in your pajamas, make sure you shower every day and change into a new set of PJs. Clean clothes also include clean towels. Make sure your towels are of soft material as rough synthetic materials can be harsh against the skin of our intimates. Tight clothes like jeans, shorts, and even underwear must not be worn daily. They create a non-breathable

environment for your intimates and cause the bacteria to grow in your intimates which can cause infection.

Intimate Wash:

Even though our intimates are self-cleaning, using a good intimate wash is probably in your best interest. Make sure, you avoid using personal hygiene products that are fragrant as they can disrupt the pH level of your intimates. Hygiene washes are made keeping in mind the sensitive skin and pH level of your privates. Intimate wash for men are made keeping in mind the pH level 5.3 - 5.8 and intimate wash for women are made for balancing the pH level 3.5 - 4.5. So, although you could be sharing a soap, you definitely shouldn’t share an intimate wash with each other. Intimate washes are the best way to keep the bacteria at bay and they will leave you feeling clean, fresh, and dry all day. Use an intimate wash for a week and you will definitely feel a difference in your body.

Soaps and Scrubbing:

Soaps and body washes that you use for your body may not be the right choice to clean your intimates. The chemicals and fragrances used in these soaps will disrupt the pH level of your intimates and in turn will cause the growth of bad bacteria which can lead to redness, itching, and infections. The skin of and around your intimates is extremely sensitive, so using loofahs and scrubbers is a definite no-no. Using products that are abrasive can easily result in hurting the skin which will attract infection-causing bacteria.

Washing Before and After Sex:

If you are hoping to get some, make sure your intimates get some cleaning before, no one likes a dirty partner ( in terms of hygiene, of course!). Washing up after sex is also equally important if not more. The latex condoms that we use also contain chemicals, which if not washed away can stick to the skin of our privates and cause issues later. Peeing after sex is also a very important step, just in case any bacteria has traveled further. Keeping your intimates clean leads to greater satisfaction for you and your partner during sexual intercourse.

For the Ladies:

Your hormones may be sending you into overdrive during your period, but make sure you avoid being intimate with your partner during this time, as sex during menstruating can cause infections, especially if you are prone to infections down there. Many women think one sanitary pad can be worn throughout the day. This is a myth, pads and tampons should be changed every 2 - 4 hours. Using them for a longer period of time can cause infection from the bacteria present in the blood. As you sleep during the night, our body processes slow down, so you can spend a night using one single pad but make sure you do not wear a tampon during the course of a night as wearing a tampon for so long can cause toxic shock syndrome.

Cotton Underwear:

I am pretty sure you all agree that cotton is the best material. Cotton underwear is the best invention for men and women. Cotton allows the skin to breathe and unlike synthetic material that blocks the circulation of air. If the material of your underwear is not breathable, humidity levels can increase in our intimate area and create a home for infection-causing bacteria.

Intimate Hygiene can be easily maintained if a routine is followed. These are just a few tips to get you started on a journey of intimate health benefiting you. These are simple tricks that can be followed by everyone for better intimate health. Finding the best intimate wash for men

suitable for you isn’t that difficult either. Maintaining personal hygiene will keep you away from infections, physically healthy and clean intimates also provide added satisfaction during pleasure as well. Having an infection can lead to serious problems relating to other issues like fertility problems later on and also cause pain during sexual intercourse. Other than these basic tips, grooming is also very important for intimate hygiene. By this, i do not mean to get rid of all the hair down there but keeping it neat will help, anyways the hair does help in providing a barrier from infections. Our intimate areas are more prone to infections and are much more sensitive than the rest of the body. What we need is a thorough washing which is gentle at the same time.
